Abstract

The distribution of pollutant mass is affected by turbulent diffusion, which presents significant issues. Wind shear, buoyancy, surface roughness, wind intensity, cloud cover, and velocity variations are all included in this topic. The particle-displacement probability distribution form, mean concentration field of continuous sources, apparent eddy diffusivity, initial phase of continuous plumes, atmospheric cloud growth far from concentrated sources, Lagrangian properties of turbulence, consequences of Taylor's theorem, elementary statistical theory of turbulent diffusion, and the Hay-Pasquill method for cloud-spread prediction were all discussed in order to characterize turbulent diffusion. The crosswind-integrated normalized concentration was predicted using the Gaussian plume model at the center-line at ground level and at vertical height using the evaluated turbulence coefficients. This was then compared with the three-dimensional Iodine-135 concentrations that were observed. The expected concentration and the observed concentration are in good agreement, according to a statistical analysis of the data.
