The aim of this study is to collect the opinions of the candidate teachers about the applicability of the four-quadrant Algebraic weight scales (FQAWS) as concrete material in the instruction of whole numbers unit with the framework of the teaching mathematics with the help of concrete materials in the second stage of middle school. This study is an action research. An interview form with 3 open-ended questions was used. As a result of this study it was determined that FQAWS are effective in teaching, concretizing and making persistent the knowledge about mathematical concepts. It was also found out that they yield student centered application; they equip students with analytical thinking and social interaction skills. All in all, it was concluded that FQAWS as a concrete material have suitable attributions and it is applicable in mathematics instruction.
