Abstract
This paper is a biographical tribute to the French mathematician Gérard Rauzy (1938–2010), tracing his education, career, and mathematical contributions. It surveys his work on uniform distribution theory, normal sets, entire functions taking integer values, statistical independence of sequences, and symbolic dynamics, including the introduction of substitutions on finite alphabets and the discovery of the Rauzy fractals associated with the Tribonacci substitution. The article also lists his doctoral students and provides a complete bibliography of his publications.
