With the rapid development of digital technology, digital transformation has gradually become an important way to promote rural revitalization. In this paper, by constructing the evaluation index system of tourism and cultural heritage protection and digital technology development, we take the tourism and cultural heritage protection and digital technology development of a certain place from 2010 to 2022 as the research object and use the cloud model to measure it. And based on this, after setting the relevant variables, the interactive mechanism of digital technology promoting tourism and cultural heritage protection is explored through regression analysis. The study found that both tourism, cultural heritage protection, and digital technology in the sample area are at a medium level of development, with a comprehensive development index of 0.518 and 0.499, respectively. Digital technology has a significant positive effect on tourism and cultural heritage protection (p < 0.01), and among the dimensions of digital technology development, the digital environment (0.916) has the most significant effect on tourism and cultural heritage protection, followed by digital industrialization (0.916), which is the most significant. Followed by digital industrialization (0.826) and infrastructure (0.473). Taken together, digital technology has a significant role in boosting the development of rural tourism and protecting cultural heritage.
