The research approached the concept of discourse between the ancients and the moderns, then it dealt with the concept of intertextuality, and partial quote intertextuality. The study examines the literary discourse between the ancients and modernists with analysis of the commonalities between interpretations of ancient Arabs, contemporary Arabs, as well as Western Commentary. The study furthers this discussion with an examination of the literary influence of the Holy Quran on the works and sermons of Imam Al- Sajjad (peace be upon him), thereby delineating the conceptual commonalities between his works (peace be upon him) and the Holy Quran. These commonalities operate on implicit, literary, conceptual and metaphysical levels.
